What is Call Forwarding?
Call forwarding is a phone feature that redirects incoming calls from your primary number to an alternate number, such as a mobile phone, landline, or voicemail. Call forwarding services let you set up automatic rerouting so any calls to your number go to someone else.
This ensures that you never miss important calls, whether you’re away from your desk, busy, out of the office, or unreachable.
Businesses use call forwarding to route calls to the right person or department and provide better customer service. It helps employees stay connected and ensures calls are never missed.
How Does Call Forwarding Work?
Call forwarding works by automatically redirecting inbound calls from one number to another, based on preset rules or conditions of your phone service provider. When a call comes to your original number, the phone system recognizes that call forwarding is active and reroutes it to a different designated number, such as a mobile or office phone.
The caller usually doesn’t notice that the call is redirected. VoIP Call forwarding can be customized for all calls, busy lines, unanswered calls, or specific hours. Modern VoIP & business phone systems let you manage settings, update numbers, and monitor calls easily through their app or dashboards.
